This notice explains what personal data is processed when you visit www.surgery.cy or contact the practice, why, and what your rights are.

What this website collects

This website has no forms, accounts or online booking and does not ask you for any personal information. When you visit it, the following is processed automatically:

  • Technical data (IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, date and time), processed by our hosting provider, Squarespace, to deliver the site and keep it secure.

  • Cookies, as described below. Only strictly necessary cookies are used until you make a choice in the cookie banner.

  • Google Maps. When a page with a map loads, Google receives your IP address and the technical data needed to display the map.

Cookies

  • Strictly necessary: needed for the site to work and to remember your cookie choice. Always on.

  • Performance / analytics: Squarespace visitor statistics. Only with your consent.

  • Marketing: Google Ads conversion measurement, which shows us whether a visit that came from one of our Google ads led to a phone call or an email. Only with your consent.

We do not use remarketing or personalised advertising based on the pages you read on this site. If you decline marketing cookies, no Google Ads cookies are set; Google may still receive limited, cookie-less signals (for example, that a page was viewed) without any identifier stored on your device. You can change your choice at any time with the “Cookie Preferences” link at the bottom of every page.

When you contact us by phone or email

We use the information you give us — such as your name, contact details and anything you choose to tell us about your health — only to answer you and arrange your appointment. It is treated confidentially and is not shared with third parties for marketing. The legal basis is taking steps at your request (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)) and, for health information, the provision of health care (Article 9(2)(h)). Please do not send detailed medical information by email unless it is necessary; email is not a fully secure channel.

  • Legitimate interest: operating and securing the website.

  • Answering your enquiry: when you phone or email.

Who receives data

  • Squarespace: website hosting.

  • Google: Google Ads, and Google Maps when a map is displayed.

Squarespace and Google may process data outside the EU. Where they do, the transfer is protected by the safeguards required by the GDPR, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

How long data is kept

  • Cookies: according to your cookie settings; Google Ads cookies last up to 90 days.

  • Emails and appointment details: as long as needed to deal with your enquiry.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable format. You can withdraw your consent to cookies at any time. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details above. You also have the right to complain to the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection, Iasonos 1, 1082 Nicosia, Cyprus — www.dataprotection.gov.cy.
